Windows 10 Cumulative Updates Launching Tomorrow
All Windows 10 versions will get patched, though it’s worth knowing that only Windows 10 Creators Update and newer updates are still supported for home users. Updates for the previous Windows 10 releases are only shipped as part of the Long-Term Servicing Channel.
One particular highlight for the June 2018 Patch Tuesday cycle is the release of new cumulative updates for Windows 10 April 2018 Update.
Shipped in late April as a manual download and then on May 8 as an automatic update via Windows Update, this new Windows 10 version is offered to devices across the world gradually, as part of an approach that allows Microsoft to collect feedback and address issues in advance.
New updates for Windows 7 and 8.1
Nevertheless, customers have been complaining about major issues with Windows 10 April 2018 Update in the last few weeks, including bugs rendering their devices completely useless. Despite the significant number of problems, Microsoft has been rather slow at fixing them, so the June 2018 cumulative update is expected to come with a long list of improvements.
Windows 7 and Windows 8.1 will also receive the typical monthly rollups. For Windows 7 users, this Patch Tuesday rollout brings them one step closer to the official end-of-support for the operating system. Microsoft will stop releasing security updates for Windows 7 in January 2020, and customers still running this version, including enterprises in particular, are recommended to start planning the upgrade to Windows 10 already.
As it happens every month, it remains to be seen if cumulative updates install correctly on Windows 10, as this has been quite a challenge ever since Microsoft rolled out this OS in July 2015. Updates often fail to install or cause other issues, though it’ll be interesting to see if the software giant manages to resolve this unexpected behavior for April 2018 Update.
May any good news be yours,,,,,
