- While we are waiting for various features in multiplayer rounds " MP " to become a reality .
RECEIVING INVITES :
While receiving an invite .
To stay on the screen long enough to reasonably reply .
Include a message block to communicate your status ." I'll be ready in 30 seconds" ," 5 minutes ", "10 minutes "," let's try tomorrow "," playing right now "" message me bud " etc .
Also with ACCEPT or DECLINE and possibly PLAYING RIGHT NOW .
WHILE INVITING
A message block to enter other players not showing green . Also other invitees in the lobby can suggest other players they see green .
Other invitees in the lobby please remain for the full 5 minutes of the invite clock . Probably only waiting for 1 more player .
.ONCE THE HOST CLICKS PLAY
There are many players like myself that have a longer load time prior to the tee
than some others . As much as 60 to 90 seconds .
Please know this and remain patiently knowing I , we , they will appear eventually ..
Many players do know this . And are very cool about it . I thank you very much .
And pre tee is the only delay there will be .
IN COIN PLAY ONCE THE INVITE IS ACCEPTED
The above is especially important . Please know that this is the only delay PRE TEE . Just a few more seconds and the game will be underway .
THE ABILITY TO CHANGE AVAILABILITY STATUS
The old Flash program had quite an extensive feature to show various status . Even for various different game formats .
I do not think we can expect such a precise feature as that in the new format .
But I do think we should be able to designate :
GREEN AVAILABLE
RED BUSY
Baby steps I guess ..
In the old Flash . In MP Stroke RR's ( ranked rounds ) . Was the only format that went RED BUSY once a round had started . To not be interrupted by invites .
This should continue . Once they figure out how .
In unlimited play single player rounds . Both WGT ( default settings ) and CC ( tiered custom settings ) .
The ability to invite during a round was left on , on purpose . Because :
The round has " game completion turned off " . The only format with that . Giving the single player the option of restarting the round ( also the only format with the restart option ) ..
And or accepting an invite . Without consequences . Not interrupting a MP round .
In the unlimited play single player round . Ending , quitting , exiting the round at anytime on any hole does not count against you . On your average or game completion .
That should stay the same if they ever figure it out .
Alt shot and Match Play rounds . Status can be changed manually . Not automatically as those rounds are inconsequential ..
Those I think are the basics that cover most invite concerns . There are other glitches . Some personal . Some WGT . That also make it harder to play .
If the invite system can be made anywhere close to the old Flash feature . That would help game play so much .
I believe that once you are involved in a any form of a game , you should be marked as busy (red )...that way you don`t have to manually change your status and risk losing the chat feature , which is frustrating even with the key bindings...

One is your view about not having to change it manually . But usually the downside to that is forgetting to change it back .
I have not heard before this . That an invite has anything to do with the chat feature . I have never experienced that .
The other problem with turning RED BUSY automatically is that one who doesn't get many invites . May not want to miss a particular invite . Or would want to be able to message the inviter .
I would want to at least take note of the inviter . To follow up later . I have had much trouble with invites for a while . So restricting them is not on my list .
I do understand that others may not feel the same way .
But assuming that an alt shot round is a more leisurely format . Also assuming that there is no connection with the invite to chat . There could be more time for a quick response .
Generally an alt shot round has more opportunity for many things . Although no one is trying to lengthen the round . As no one is trying to shorten the round
The round can be set up with a 90 second clock . In almost all cases the player will make their shot with still around 30 t0 60 seconds left on the clock . Not even using a minute . But the opportunity is there if the time is needed . Only seconds . But meaningful seconds .
The same can be said for the time outs . No one wants to have to use a time out . But just in case . In order to continue the round . They are there . 7 is max . Maybe never used . But they could preserve the round .
I assume everyone still agrees to set up with no apparel .
These are just what i have found as factors to help get complete rounds in .

MP Stroke Play : The round is counted , ranked rounds . All stats and scores are counted . Automatic RED BUSY to stop invites from interfering .
Unlimited play single player . Statistics and scores are counted in rounds that are completed only . As an invite can be quickly declined without any problem . And as easily accepted if the player wishes . Does not affect anyone else . No reason for RED BUSY .
Coin . Not a counted or ranked round . Has no meaning or purpose other than a forced pressure filled format . That one can gain good experience in . And meaningless coins . No reason for RED BUSY .
Alt Shot . Another no statistic no score meaningless format . Other than enjoyable team play . And more good experience . No reason for RED BUSY.
Match . An obsolete format . Still played for fun and experience . No statistics . No scores . No reason for RED BUSY .
Single Play Tournaments and Bracket Rounds are also a good argument to incorporate automatic RED BUSY . As they are single play and interruption would lead to a WD ( withdrawl ) .-

To restore my chat . I would click on the browser . Open a forum tab in WGT . Click on reply or edit .
Type 1 thing . Minimize the browser . Back to the game . And the text would be restored . Just like that .
This has happened over a dozen times . Each time this method easily restored the chat .

I use the ANY selection, and I couldn't tell you the last time I've played an apparel OFF game for Stroke or Alt Shot. pdb1:

That's fine . But there are several threads here in the forums . That have suggested that most prefer apparel off when choosing a MP round .More specifically alt shot . protonc:

That is why the feature has been modified to have a choice when setting up a round .
All my rounds have been set up with apparel off . As the consensus suggested ..
With the exception of Coin games . Of course .

Some of these mention turning Apparel off while playing alt shot . There are more mentions in the forums I could not find .
Hey Paul, I was only giving you an FYI. I know of all the consensus, specially in the beginning. As we go on, I feel like most players don't care as long as they can find a good game. I play daily, Stroke or Alt Shot (sometimes both) eastern time 8pm'ish, and I couldn't tell you the last time it found an Apparel OFF with the ANY selection. To me, I don't care either way what I play, as long as I play, LOL! With apparel ON, it helps with my driver, I don't want to mess with my iron remapping or etc. it's not needed for me. Also makes me wonder if the ANY selection is really working, or if it was something that they added just to please us. I was a big pusher for the ANY selection. It finds games, but normally apparel ON only for me. I'm playing, and for the most part, haven't had any issues lately. protonc

In this case . It was one of the other team that quit . The reason I know this . Is this is that game .
30 Apr
pdb1 and phill66lava defeated spanishshark and jagger48 in a 9-hole Alternate Shot game on KIAWAH ISLAND: THE OCEAN COURSE.
Not 5 minutes ago . Without 1 hole played .
Yesterday I got several coin games in and a couple alt shot .

Set up your ear buds or headphones . And microphone . And other preferences .
Then click on the icon of your new server .

Usually top topic is " ANNOUNCEMENTS " or below that could be " INTRODUCTIONS " .
Introduce yourself . ( typing on your keyboard ) Wait a minute . Someone will respond . In the forum post .
Then you will start to hear others ( in your earbuds ) . Asking if there is anyone needing a player . Or what is your WGT username ? Or whatever .
You can start exchanging WGT usernames ( friending ) and set up a game right away .
If your game client is ready .

WGT turns Automatic RED BUSY for MP Stroke , Single Play Tournaments , Stroke Brackets . The only modes with no choice .
Users choice for RED BUSY in alt shot , match , skins .
This is the way it was set up in Flash . In the quoted section no reason for RED BUSY . I did mean no reason for automatic RED BUSY . Meaning users choice .
Which is the way it always was before .
If they could get us back to close to that . That would be GR8 . -

I used to think that is what needed to be done " relentlessly " ." Continuously " . Until these things either got fixed . Or they told us otherwise .
But now it is all to obvious . That these , like many other features . Are simply not going to happen .
THE PCEA PLATFORM DOES NOT HAVE THE CAPABILITY TO DELIVER A USER FRIENDLY MULTIPLAYER FORMAT .
That's the bottom line .
I'm probably one of the last to hold out hope .
This is very disconcerting . Especially knowing how famous they are for not admitting errors or false claims .
One thing their silence does . Is truly let down high hoped and dedicated members .
As witnessed by me when I searched 5000 " TRAILBLAZERS " . And found 500 barely active ones . The remaining 4500 were inactive . Along with pages and pages more of recently non active players from 2010 on up . Totaling in the 10's of thousands . All through 2020 . That didn't see any hope or reason to hold out for more disappointment .
Looks like they were right .
For the MP rounds that I can play , ( mostly coins ) . I have been making efforts to bridge the communication gap . That has worked ,very slowly . But at the same time . It is not helping in the my most favored other popular MP formats . That I can almost never get a game in . Even winning a majority of the coin games . Is a poor substitute for the real MP formats . Although Alt Shot does not count either . They are played with a higher level of respect and comfort and golf rapport . Even the coin players , step up a little more when entering an Alt Shot round .
But the battles with the invites in the MP's . Is just not worth it .
However . There is an alternative route to playing in the other MP rounds .
If one really wants to play . There are several Discord servers with much WGT activity .
All one needs to do is put on their earbuds . Sign in to one of the Discord servers . And immediately you will hear activity . Requests for players in a match .
With a simple " I'm in " . You start friending the player or players . And are accepting an invite in no time .
It is really that simple . I just found this out recently . Then my old earbuds stopped working . It took me till yesterday to get a cheap pair . I now can go and try this out . Again .
Discord is amazing BTW . It is the most user friendly app in sporting/gaming communication .

Go to the GAME MODES, select the multi-player game type you want, then click the blue JOIN A GAME button.
What that does . Is puts me in the top host spot anyway . But unable to invite . Might as well have just created the game from the start . Which is what I do now .

I wish they would put the search box back in the invite lobby . So other players can suggest other people they see green but I don't .
I also think most of the online players on my friends list . Play on mobile . And cannot accept my invites .

At the beginning of 2021 I had around 245 members (or so) in my club I gave everyone 90 days to become familiar with the PCEA (If they weren't already) On April 1st I went thru my roster looking for who was still active ... pdb1:
As witnessed by me when I searched 5000 " TRAILBLAZERS " . And found 500 barely active ones . The remaining 4500 were inactive . Along with pages and pages more of recently non active players from 2010 on up . Totaling in the 10's of thousands . All through 2020 . That didn't see any hope or reason to hold out for more disappointment .
I had 37 members that Played their last round on either 12/27/20 or 12/28 ...All of which were pretty active FLASH players ...So unfortunately I removed them ...It was not a coincidence none had been active post flash shut down ..So they jumped the WGT ship.. Then another 10-15 that stopped playing sometime in January or Feb (I am assuming they gave PCEA a try but do to the inability to find multi-player games they gave up?)
Now lets fast forward to about 3 weeks ago....A member started a thread in our forum basically complaining about that lack of random games he could join and OF COURSE he brought up the ALL GREEN friends list etc...etc... This thread became swamped with replies of similar complaints...
So what's my point?? Glad you asked I have 2 .... #1.... If MY club basically lost 20-25% of our players (And I mean gone from WGT altogether) Since the death of Flash we can only imagine the total number throughout WGT Land...
And #2...The more concerning issue is this.. Many WGTr's gave up when flash died without even giving the launcher a fair shake...I was almost one of um' (I'm sure some of you remember my ranting about the "New" version but let's not rehash the past) And I'm glad I stayed because I feel the "Playability" of the launcher is far better than flash ever was!! So those who bailed early on... That's their loss. BUT and this is a big BUT...They bailed due to the fact they maybe didn't want to adjust or they didn't like the look or playability of PCEA compared to Flash and it was not what WE were all use to (PC players anyway)
The players that are frustrated and giving up on our beloved game over "only" the last few months are leaving because of things not getting addressed and/or corrected .... 5 Months we have been complaining about many of the same issues and there STILL unfixed??
The lobby situation is not 100% Fixed... I have still not had even ONE "Random" player show up to a skins lobby NOT ONE... If you look at my play history you will see I play 80% skinner games and I mean a TON of um !! So to NEVER have even 1 random player show up in over 100 or more random invite attempts?? On flash I/we never had a problem we always found a random 4th when needed....Same issue in Match play ....I found 3 or 4 games out of maybe 50 attempts ...So SOMETHING is still not right ..
And the number 1 Glaring Problem ....Drum roll please ........BING ..How can we STILL be talking about a friends list that shows EVERYONE ONLINE ONLY
I mean how hard could in be to to have 3 colors for an online friend????

I hear you JD . But if you remember . Before this 5 months . For over a year we had PersonalComputerEarlyAccess . Probably nearing 2 years by now . So many of us have had a good glimpse of what was coming .For a very long time . pdb1

I think your numbers of 20 - 25 % are good . Maybe a little low . It is so hard to tell .
I also don't think the early exiters are sorry they left .
You also say you feel the playability is much better . Well I don't feel that way . Before the end of Flash I felt I had a chance to make TL . I have given up on TL .
So that leaves solo , coins , CTTH's . Which I am not as good as I was in Flash . None of those 3 I enjoy .
I attempt to play MP Stroke and Alt Shot everyday . Stroke is impossible . And I can sometimes get a full round of Alt in . But not everyday .
I too was stunned at the direction WGT went with the adaptation to the mobile platform . As you may remember I thought it would be a disaster .
Especially seeing with my own eyes . All the recently ( in the last 2 years ) inactive players . An astronomical number . I would find a very active " TRAILBLAZER " with 15 yes 15 pages of friends . 14 of which were inactive . I ran across similar to that , more than several times .
But I stayed on . At first I really thought that it was just a matter of time before it would smooth out .
I no longer feel that way . In fact . After each upgrade . It takes me longer to load the rendering . Because they are adding codes and files of course . That is what we are asking for . And with little to no headway . Where I am able to enjoy the formats I like .
I now believe that this platform is very limited . Is not capable of the many features and intricate and specific options that we were used to .
Some are saying that it already is . Maybe for them .
But I had some problems with Flash since 2016 . When I was forced to play with WiFi . Very Low Definition . It is all I can get . Or afford . But the landline feed for the high speed ethernet . Is broken and corroded . The cable company COX refuses to pay for the repairs . As do the landowners in this section of the desert . And are in bad standing with each other . And always will be .
But like I said . I had it much better with Flash as far as my connection and smoothness of play .
I have said before . That I will eventually give up . I am sure that is true .
I really have no idea how many others are in the same boat as me . I can get no affirmations or denials . Much like I felt running a Country Club . I can make all kinds of inquiries . That i know people read . But they have no intention of responding .
There is also the high number of rounds that I attempt daily . With many failures . And a % of those are players quitting . Not willing to wait for my 60 to 90 second load rendering . Pre tee . The only delay in the game . But at least 1 per day will quit so fast . That my system can't keep up . The game thinks I didn't return in time and I get the forfeit and the loss of coins . Thankfully I know to screen shot every step of the way ( which is also a pain in the ass ) . And have submitted over 200,000 coins worth of false forfeits . And been reimbursed for about 50,000 .
Many problems with game play . That I know I am not alone in . So the game itself is tough for me
Then there is the years and years of moderation . For absolutely nothing . Moderation being separate from CS . Moderation refusing to talk with me .
All the while I am providing QA with valuable data , screen shots and videos of various scenarios . That they are very thankful for . And if it were up to them . I would not be moderated .
Moderating me has got to be the most wasted use of the moderation departments time that they have ever had . IDK if they are just stupid . Or maybe they are getting a good laugh . Between bong hits . There is no logic , reason or benefit to keeping me moderated .
It is irritating to say the least . And if I actually thought about it . I would be gone based on that alone .
But JD . Those are only yours and my viewpoints on these matters . There are so many different groups and genre's and perspectives on all of that . And only some of it has common threads . And that would be the love of Golf .
That is not enough . Especially at this time . With the new crowd . Now becoming interested in making their rounds count . Moving up in tier . Lowering their average . Acquiring better equipment .
There is only one solution for that . Since WGT dropped the ball with them .
They must now learn and immerse themselves in the same adventure that we all went through and still adhere to . The system we created and perfected . Is the only system in town . That works .
That is in the future and near future . And has barely started . That will certainly be interesting . And will take a good many years . Who knows what will lay on the other side of the creating of an all new WGT Universe .
