Good morning! I finally have a worthy update on the paperback progress! Smile

Short version:

CHONKY! O.O This book stands on its edge without help!
Alas, the first proof is too light for my liking, and Eris just made it darker, so we're going again. This has been pretty common with Amazon's printers, trying to guess what's too light and too dark for them. >.< It's been a thing since Book 1.
2nd proof is expected Sunday August 25. If that is good, then publishing will be shortly after that.

A Bit More Chatter about Art...
Here's a nice picture of the wraparound! ^_Eris painted most of this based on the guiding licensed imagery. I love the high peak and breaking sunlight striking the spiked chain in the extreme foreground! :D
It pretty much matches the concept sketch she showed me and it's absolutely gorgeous. <3
In fact, that was the first thing I noticed with the first proof being too light. :( The peak disappeared almost entirely, and since it's not visible on the front of the ebook, the physical copy is the only place you'd see this.
So... it's not ready. But it'll be worth it to get it right. Smile
If for some reason the darkened version doesn't work, Eris had another idea to try, but so far we've managed to get the coloring right without messing with the contrast too much.
Note: the "continuing" image seen here is not intended to be either a panorama shot nor Manalar exactly as described in the book. Smile Turns out nobody made a royalty-free image that even comes close to the weird mountainside city I have in my head (quelle surprise).
What we've got here are two concept images blended together, utilizing the original landscape imagery with more ideas layered onto it, giving off the two thematic vibes in the book. Smile
It's also a bit of an homage to the cover of Book 3! :D I enjoy golden light breaking through restraints, apparently. There's even a third version of this concept (but different) yet to be revealed for Book 14. XD
That's all for now! I'll be back with further news hopefully by end of this weekend! Smile
P.S. Because of that extreme-close-up for that spiked ball and chain, this cover wins the award for shortest, no-nonsense blurb so far! XD
