I don't understand The Boss's filing system either.
But, I've herded turds before, and probably shall again,, So,,,
Does "live with it" help??

When you go to the forum 1st time,,, Sort and filter,,,, Since last visit,,,, Not read,,, Save and apply,,,

I wish there was a way to sort the forum posts differently . There is not . Unless i do not use the pinned feature at all .
If I stopped pinning anything . There would be no way to access any of anything . Only the most current posts would be first and any post replied to . Everything else would soon be lost never to be found again .
I think there is too much important information and many current recurring formats and events that need to be accessible quickly by myself and Jim and anyone else that is interested .
With this system . The STICKY's . There is no middle ground or an option to have the latest posts first . It is either utilize it or not .
I have already spent hours condensing it to the minimal topics . I am glad you two are so well read . I guess i did something right . but i have no evidence that everyone is done accessing and reading things .
If you remember . It was only a few short months ago that i discovered the ability to sticky the posts . I understand your concerns . Believe me . I am always still experimenting and planning and thinking of ways to make it more of a current post forum .
It is a lot of work . On a daily basis . Not just to tend to the forum . But many other areas as well .
Right now . This is the best you are going to get . My plan is for it to only get better .

I am very sorry that you feel that way . I am so glad you brought it to my attention . It is quite simple actually . And it makes a lot of sense . I have spent many many hours refining it .
If you read the topic below . I will give you an easy detailed description of the reasons for the filing system and how to easily find what it is that you are looking for .
I hope then that you may " fully agree " that it isn't that complicated . i literally have spent hours and hours at it . And unless you intend to imply that i am some sort of idiot . That hasn't got a clue . You might then see that i have been working hard at at the ease of access and info for all of you . In fact that is all I do .
Some day you may thank me . lol jk , not .

I'm sorry but I am not in a position to make those decisions for you members . I have no idea who has read what . I have to assume that no one has read anything . Judging by the responses .
To be fair is my intention . To be as thorough and informative as I can . To find as much information as i can for any subject that may interest any one of you . To present it . let it hang around for a few days . Then move it along . It is a constant painstaking process . And with this primitive forum format . With no search feature at all . To not lose the content of a topic that may need referring to again is not an easy task .
I spent the better of the first year and a half trying to prepare the website for that very thing . ease of access to popular topics . Because the website has a search feature .
it has been about a year now that i have given up on trying to sort it all out . As hard as I work at it now . Is about a fifth as much as i did before I realized it was all for not .
So yes .

This only works for individuals, and when one logs back into WGT must reset it,,,

I merely stated that I Don't Understand your system. No reflection on you.
Both Mad scientists and Visionaries have always been misunderstood,,,,(Hope that got a chuckle,,,!) (And sometimes they were one and the same!!)

(I did not wish to Quote the entire text,,,,LOL) But the end around that Jim showed me, and I showed turd, works pretty well for me anyway. Others are welcome to try it, and see IF it helps them.
The main problem I have found with it is: If I wish to reference another post that I have already read, I must deactivate the filter, refind the post,,, (Because I have already read it,,,) Make sure I get the quote, spirit, and citation correct, and THEN refind the post I was responding to and,,,,,Well, it gets a bit sticky and complicated,,,,
