Ferris Bueller likes to goof off so much he skipped an entire day of school. We don’t even want to know how goofy your sister is. Regardless, March 22 is the day we celebrate goofballs in all their forms—and take a lesson. That’s right, March 22 is National Goof Off Day! Get ready to go wild … and maybe re-watch Ferris Bueller’s Day Off.

There are a lot of really serious people in the world, and that’s because the social anxiety is real. It’s easy to believe that you’ll get judged by your friends if you let your guard down and crack a few jokes. It’s hard to get over the fear of making a fool of yourself! However, National Goof Off Day is the prime time to conquer that fear and act silly with some friends. We promise they’ll laugh along with you.

Rewatch your favorite comedy

What better way to celebrate being goofy than with some of Hollywood’s greatest professional comedians? If you’re into physical comedy, rewatch "Singin’ in the Rain" and watch Cosmo make a fool of himself. If you’re into stoner humor, watch "Pineapple Express." Our list of movies is endless—and extremely entertaining.

Leave the work until tomorrow

National Goof Off Day is the day for everything silly … and that doesn’t include work (unless you work as a comedian). Take a personal day and go out and enjoy that spring sunshine! If we’ve learned anything from Ferris Bueller, it’s that sometimes a personal day is much-needed. Who knows—you might even get to star in your own flash mob! If you do, we’d love to see it.

It’s always good to de-stress

Life can be so hectic. You go to work for eight or nine hours, come home, and have to cook dinner. If you’re a parent, you have to take care of your child on top of all of this exertion. This can be extremely tiring and demoralizing. But on National Goof Off Day, you get to take a break from all that craziness. Have a good time, and let a little stress out!

You can test out your jokes

National Goof Off Day is prime time to let loose all of those puns you’ve had stored up in your brain. Since everyone’s goofing off, it’s time to test out a couple of new jokes! Do some audience research and see which jokes you’re going to take into everyday life, and which should die after the day is done. It’s much less awkward to tell a bad joke when everyone’s doing it.

We get to see everyone’s silly side

Everyone has that one coworker who’s too serious. We feel like we can’t relate to them. Why are they not laughing at our jokes? However, on National Goof Off Day, even they get silly. You’ll get to see a completely new side of them that you haven’t seen before. And we promise, you’ll bond with them. Work will get more productive and fun!
