Did you just wake up from a month-long nap? News flash: Windows 10 is here! Microsoft’s hotly anticipated next-generation desktop and tablet operating system was released to the public nearly one month ago, and the response so far has been overwhelmingly positive. Sure there have been a few speed bumps on the road (here are 5 common problems people are having with Windows 10 and how to fix them) and sure the launch has had a scandal or two (Windows 10 is spying on almost everything you do,  but by and large, people love Windows 10… because it’s not Windows 8.
One of the most talked about new features in Windows 10 is the Start Menu, which is actually an old Windows feature that was sorely missed in Windows 8. But did you know that there’s a special “secret” Start Menu in Windows 10 that you’ve probably never even seen before?

The Start Menu is indeed one of the biggest draws of Microsoft’s new Windows 10 platform. As much attention as it has received, however, there’s still a whole other dimension to the Start Menu that many people have no idea exists.
So how does it work? Simply right-click on the Windows 10 Start button and… no, wait, that’s it.

Right-clicking on the Start button opens up a new panel of shortcuts that give users instant access to things like the Event Viewer, Task Manager, Control Panel, File Explorer and more.

    John,
Interesting post .  Do you have an opinion on whether to click that windows 10 icon on my lower right. Running windows 8.1 now. Would welcome any feedback at all. Thanks.

I've been told that in order to me to use Windows 10 I need a lot more computer power to use it. Sticking with Windows 7 Ultimate because I don't want to install 10 and have problems...had them with every new version I ever upgraded to...too old fashioned here to try my luck again.

Paul, I want to say Thank you so much to you and company. You have Top Shelf  persons giving 110% a good part of 24/7. I'm stepping out on a limb here, but the group of men you put together, do it for the passion of the game and the feeling of having "PURPOSE" which cant be measured in dollars and cents. I salute you all.
I,ve known you for awhile now Paul. Must have read a least 100+ post. Seen you almost whipped by frustration, Off the charts HAPPY because you had one day(1) without incident out of 30-45 days of constant mayhem. Your above statement is very powerful to me. A pat on the back goes a long way with me. You've have given me "PURPOSE" which has been absent for some time now. Thank you Paul, Rob, and Jim for your continued support..
Which brings me to a confession inspired by you 3 gentlemen in particular. Proposed a plan to post surgery / nursing home company in my neighborhood. The proposal, that was gracefully accepted, is I will setup 3 laptops programmed with video/audio email program for each patient that will connect them to family or friend with a few clicks of the mouse. The director also got staff to buy into it. I'll also do training of staff and patients where applicable. Alot of the elderly have no visitation from family or friends. I look into their eyes and only see  disparity and sadness. This program will keep family and friends updated on the condition of the bedridden patient. I believe it could be small form pleasure to talk / see someone you can connect with.. Doing it on behalf of my ministry.
In closing, I wanted to share with the three of you what you brought to my table. Thank you so much my friends...Peace
    John (azdewars)

Hi Rob. here is the system requirements for Windows 10 which have not altered much since Windows XP

    • Latest OS:
Make sure you are running the latest version of either Windows 7 SP1 or Windows 8.1 Update.
Don’t know which version you are running? Check here to find out. Need to download the latest version? Click here for Windows 7 SP1 or Windows 8.1 Update.
    • Processor:
1 gigahertz (GHz) or faster processor or SoC
    • RAM:
1 gigabyte (GB) for 32-bit or 2 GB for 64-bit
    • Hard disk space:
16 GB for 32-bit OS 20 GB for 64-bit OS
    • Graphics card:
DirectX 9 or later with WDDM 1.0 driver
    • Display:
      800x600

    • If you fall short in memory or hdd space, i would recommend purchasing 1-2   16 or 32 or 64 GiG Flash Pendrives (USB Flash sticks) There is a command line program that will utilize any available flash drive memory/disk space. I've put my Page File on usb flash stick which system runs faster smoother as page file can consume resources.
    • There is also the process of backing up large programs to create more working space.
    • There is program i use to help distant friends called TEAMVIEW. Its widely used in technical field work. With your permission i can logon to your system and clean / optimize it while you watch whats going on.
    • Its secure and safe. Only you and i will have 1 time matching keys to function.
    • i've gotten old xp machines to blaze with just 1 gig ram. Once you custom optimize it kicks butt but MS has things running that effect other apps. anyway be more than glad to help
