A GIFT...2017 Andyson Memorial
A GIFT...2017 Andyson Memorial
[*]This post is copied from A Gift...2017 Andyson Memorial
[*]
Hi everyone,
As some of you know, with Paulton's blessing, I have turned the 2017 Andyson Memorial medallion (the one that Slicedpepper posted on all our walls) into a real stainless steel golf ball marker.
As much as I would have liked to send one to everyone that completed the first two rounds of stroke play...it would have been a little pricey. So I decided to buy a limited number of them (50) (I was sent 51 of them and I'm going to hang on to one of them) and randomly select players that completed the first two rounds and send them out as a little memento of this years event.
First, there are a few players that are deserving of one- darek2...mystry78...Paulton & his helpers...bery111...Ducati916...Slicedpepper...TWOMINUSONE...Shedite & WigerToods2010.
Here are the players that were selected at random-
Young46, PSUTOM, K7JBQ, Mbaggese, conveyorguy, Fuzzygaz, MainzMan, Qputts, Overtheedge, drmoose, hpurey, Bowl64, Leggoman13, gonefission, Romax, alanti, Kissmydivot, Cuber, Scotthope, opyeuclid, Oneeyedjohn, frappefort, txzdave, lonniescott711, Yankeejim, VEM9000, AussieMick11, Bigknight, Bogeyplus, RoggRR, okwestly, Miokontic, RonCarr, bluey403, MMills785, Jimbog1964, kavvz, twinponds169 & Butchbay.
So, for anyone on this list that lives in the UK, bery111 will be sending you a friend invite and you need to touch base with him as he will be sending you your ball marker and you need to send him your address.
For anyone in Australia or New Zealand, Alanti will be sending you yours. Please accept his invite and work out the details.
I'll be taking care of the U.S. and the ROTW, so if your name is on this list and you receive an invite from me...please answer it, as I need your address to send you your gift.
DO NOT POST YOUR PERSONAL INFO IN THIS THREAD, OR ON OUR WALLS, WAIT TO HEAR FROM BERY111, ALANTI OR MYSELF PRIVATELY
Lastly, I would like the last ball marker to find it's way to Dennis' family. I am asking for anyone's help to remember if there is a player that has contact with his family and who could help me get this marker into their hands. Please send me a pm if you know how to help, don't post on my wall.
With all that said, I know I forgot things to say and will post any updates in this thread as they become clear...stay tuned.

Wayne, This is just too cool ! What a wonderful tribute and reminder of our departed friend. A truly fitting memento that almost has me at a loss for words ( don't you all wish, lol ).Sincerely though, a standing ovation to you for keeping the community spirit alive. Doc:)

Really is very nice............Well played guys.

Very nice gesture indeed mrcaddie. I see I was lucky enough to get picked as a recipient and I am very grateful for that. I am already designing an oak "shadow box" with an led light to proudly display it in memory of Andyson. (I love building one of a kind things) Thank you so much. Romax.

I see many threads for good things for the community and will have 5 stars .... someone out there will almost always Down star a positive thing for spite .... I am sorry for who ever it is and only wish there was a way to reach out to them ..
FWIW, I'd not be concerned with how many stars a thread has.

Heck of a gesture Wayne. I'd like you to find one that may have been Dennis's closer friends, you know, someone that really should deserve it. I sincerely appreciate being chosen, but feel your efforts should go to a more deserving player. Cheers. MikeMBaggese

Just when one thinks the pinnacle has been reached, Silently, nobility steps in.
It is nobility, that forms the granite foundation, which benevolence, stands unwavering upon.
One need only open a dictionary, to find Mr. Caddie’s name, synonymous with benevolence.
Those that know Wayne, know reverence, & have no need for a dictionary. His giving, and promotion of kindness, keep him on an unwavering path towards everlasting rewards.
All this is done, for the benefit of others, with no regard of self-adulation.
Andyson marker aside, Wayne has left his mark on society itself. After all is said, & done, a man is judged by his deeds, not his actions.
I hope, one day, to escalate to ½ of Mr. Caddies contributions, in & outside this game.
Thank you Wayne, for the constant reminder, of societies ability to show benevolence, for nothing more, than the sake of it, itself.

I don't know your name.
Two things I need to clear up.
My FISH won't post!!!
IDK why.
I just received a message from Wayne. I had no idea I was to be a recipient of one of these markers. I did not read any of the recipients names, until today, after Wayne's message.
I am truly humbled by this act, dare I say "speechless" ?
That MIGHT be, a bit far fetched. Honored I am for sure.
This is spooky, as I lost my old one, two weekends ago. Halloween is indeed afoot.
My humblest thanks, to all, for the opportunity, to help keep the spirit of Dennis alive, and well appreciated.

If Jimbog and Miokontic could kindly get in touch with their postal addresses it would be appreciated!
I got the wrong part of Jamaica on the map. Package was at JFK yesterday, so wouldn't be surprised if it's already landed at Heathrow! :D Although it could be stuck in customs....I've heard that can happen.bery111

As I mentioned to MC, it is an honor to receive such a gift. This game has given me 8 years of the most enjoyable pastime I have had. Dennis and I would communicate through email at least a couple times a month. He was a straight shooter and that is what I respected about Dennis the most. He would call me out when I was wrong but at the same time back me when I was right and trying to make my point whenever I would give my opinions or views in a forum topic. Dennis had what most of us do not have. He could "understand and comprehend" what players were trying to convey whenever they would post. Most of us jump the gun before we "understand" what another player is trying to say or make their point on a topic. Dennis would ALWAYS read, know and understand what the point another player was trying to get across in their post no matter what the topic. Most all of us do not have that understanding. This said I will cherish this "RL" gift from a WGT (Community organized) Memorial Tournament that I was a part of and always will be until this game no longer exist. TY again to MC and to everyone who took the time and effort to make the - andyson Community Memorial Tournament - better than ANY WGT tournament could even think of putting together and being such a success. OTE. God Bless you Dennis. RIP brother.frappefort:

used it on 14 holes
There are many here, in this game, that now have well deserved notoriety
Never ending questions, filled the afternoon.
A gift, it is, in all sense of the word.
I would go to the next level, and call it an honorarium. A payment in recognition of acts, or professional services, for which custom or propriety forbids a price to be set.
One can not put a price on the mischievous deeds, Dennis gave freely, along with his time, and his comedic prowess, randomly.
All participants in the tournament, did exactly the same, in remembrance of something special, that touched an element, in most, rarely seen these days. The element of kind remembrance.
The ball marker will represent not only Dennis' contributions in harmonious gestures, it will also be a reminder to me, of the benefactor, from whence it came.
As large as the memory of Dennis was admonished by strangers, today, the grandiose dispensation, by Mr. Caddie, (Wayne) will go down in philanthropic history, for such an act of kindness.
Grand things, come in small packages, indeed....
I am humbled, by the receivership, of such magnanimity
-----------------------------
Thank you Wayne
A thank you to all, that made this event, a heart felt gesture, of good will

Looks great and well done, I am very pleased and honored.
Great Design Paulton. Glad to see some of your creation being sent across the globe.
Dwayne, Awesome work on putting the design to a ball marker, your time and effort to the making and sending them all over the world is greatly appreciated.

I would love to do this...the nearest course to me is Royal St Georges. Problem is I don't have a real world handicap - and a minimum of 18 is required at RSG! I wonder if they'll accept my WGT Legend status?! lolpmm711:
Have these all been spoken for yet? If not, please let me know as I'll put Andyson on various course's greens throughout the years. I think that should be the next goal...get Andyson on a real Pebble Beach or St. Andrews green and for folks to post the pics.VEM9000

I believe you may have just solved a problem of mine, old friend. You see, as I reside in the virtual world, I have been unable to give Wayne a physical address to send my marker to. I would consider it an honor if you were to accept my 2017 Andyson Memorial marker as a personal gift from me, to one of our community's long standing members. Please PM Wayne with your info, Squirrelnutz., I'm sure Dennis would approve.renniw52:
I sure wish I could have finished the second round.

You are the man , MC. Paul can be assistant man. LOL I received the marker and have the absolute best place to use it. Dennis would probably be impressed that he gets first nod here.mrcaddie:
I'll be taking care of the U.S. and the ROTW, so if your name is on this list and you receive an invite from me...please answer it, as I need your address to send you your gift.
You see, I have this favorite golf hat my son got me one year for Christmas-a Titleist, Yankee version. What made it really cool was the magnetic ball marker and the magnet buried in the bill. What makes it even cooler now is the ball marker. I hope it generates comments on the course because I would have a great story to tell about a great individual-Andyson - and what a world wide community did for him. :-)
*edit-p.s. to the above--Dennis designed my avatar. Sooo talented. :-)

As a side note, I hope whatever landed you in the VA Hospital, causing you to miss round 2 of the Tournament is no longer a problem, and that you are doing well.
On this Veterans Day / Remembrance Day weekend, I say to all of my Veteran Brothers and Sisters thank you for your service.

Although I was unable to complete the 2nd Tourney and didn't appear on the original list of lucky recipients, I'm surprised and delighted to find myself the proud owner of the Andyson Memorial 2017 ball marker
Cheers guys you rock, have a happy and safe new year, I'll see you again in 2018!

Although you couldn't complete the event, for obvious personal reasons, you did complete the first two rounds of stroke play, which was my requirement to have one's name thrown in the hat. You're correct that your name wasn't on the original list of recipients, but it was on the short list of backup names that were selected in case anyone declined my offer.
As luck would have it, a few players did decline my offer and that's how (with Alan's help) one of the markers found its way to your door.
You're most welcome.

firstly i love everything you do to support a great legacy that was andyson
secondly i checked the mailbox today (only check it once a week) because its normally jammed with crap this time of year and there was 3 items in it
* a rates notice, they hurt even tho you own something you still hav to pay
* a notice from liquidators that the company i have worked for 13 years is being wound up on monday, but my entitlements will be paid in full
* a ball marker
Thankyou very much Wayne and Alan, and everyone else that make this possible.
A great gesture indeed.
I only play 1 or 2 rounds of golf a year now and they are with fellow members of WGT community so I will show this off proudly when asked to
Once again thanks, I will go to sleep tonite with a smile on my face.

All I can say is that I sent Ducati two envelopes (with a marker inside of each one) inside a larger envelope back in December. One envelope had Ducati's name on it and the other said "The Anderson Family" on it. I sent them to Ducati because, somewhere, he said he lived in close proximity to Dennis' family, and if I remember correctly, he actually knocked on the family's door, so I thought this was the best way for one of the markers to reach Dennis' family.
I know they were delivered because the tracking number says they arrived on December 22.
I checked Ducati's page about two weeks after I sent them and he hadn't been on since December 15th, so maybe something happened to him. I don't know, but I hope he's ok, because I too would like to know if that marker found it's way to Andy's family.
